A Taste of Summer

Conor running on Minot Beach in April

I’ve heard of Christmas in July, but summer in April?  That is a new one for me.  Over the passed few days the temperatures soared in Scituate while the kids are on school vacation.  What could be more perfect?  If I didn’t know what the calendar said I would think we were in August.  On Monday, Minot Beach was packed.  Both parking lots were full and everyone seemed to be at the beach.

The boys were in heaven, running along the shoreline keeping cool.  Hours were spent building mini wading pools and homes for crabs.  John even tried to rescue a homeless crab!

The boys searched the natural tidal pools for treasures and small sea creatures.  They found many snails and crabs.  Not to mention a sea worm.  The first one I’ve ever seen.  This little world gave them many moments of enjoyment and wonder.
Drippy castles were created only to be knocked down by Conor the Destroyer!  John and his friend taunted seagulls and tried unsuccessfully to “pick up” some older girls.
The balmy 85 degree day was made cooler and more enjoyable by the water.  After a few hours in the blazing sun we headed to Nona’s Homemade in Scituate Harbor to enjoy the best ice cream in the world.  According to John and his friend, “It was the best day ever!”  The temperatures are turning cooler today and rain is expected for the weekend, but it was so nice to have this little taste of summer in April.
