Mirror, Mirror on the Wall...

Before: Gold Mirror

I received this very GOLD mirror at a re-gifting yankee swap and in its original state was not the 'fairest of them all'.  The idea of the Scituate Cohasset Newcomer's Ladies Night Out was for people to bring a gift that they were given but didn't want in hopes that someone else might want it.  There were some pretty funny gifts - ugly scarves, books, a weird massager etc.

Anyway, I ended up with this GOLD mirror.  I'm not a big gold person and this mirror reminds me of something Goldmember of Austin Powers would like.  I thought it had potential though.

I got my ASCP out and had a go:

I lightly painted it with Old White and wiped away the access.  Some bits I didn't paint at all as I wanted that aged gold to come through a bit.

And here is the mirror now:

After: Old White Mirror with some gold
I also did this same technique on a small gold frame we gave my parents with a picture of John and Conor at the zoo:

And here is another shot of the mirror in the living room:

What do you think?  Is it the fairest of them all now?  I think it goes pretty well with our beachy / shabby chic home.
