Heritage Days are Here!

Is there anything better than the beach?  Yes, pizza on the beach.  For years we’ve said, “Oh, wouldn’t it be great to have pizza on the beach?”  We’ve always seen people do it; card tables set up stacked sky high with pizza boxes, kids frolicking on the beach while parents muse over the working week.

Filling milk cartons for the Luminaria

Well, last night we did it!  Five families on the beach.  So it wasn’t exactly perfect night because it was a bit windy and high tide (Minot disappears at high tide), but the waves were great for boogie boarding and the lighting was beautiful.  We even got to see people setting up for the Luminaria.

The kids played and played and played.  They built sandcastles, chased seagulls, practiced being lifeguards while sitting high in the white chair and ‘buried each other alive’.  The pizza didn’t disappoint either, the tangy sauce mixed with the wam melting cheese and the aroma of salt air.  We enjoyed an assortment of cheese (as you do with toddlers), veggie, BBQ Chicken and Fat Bastard (as the name implies, it is more than just a meat lovers pizza).  Yum!

First time ‘buried alive’

After a couple of hours on the beach, bellies filled to the brim, we headed down to Scituate Harbor’s First Friday Night.  Our sun kissed crew danced to the Satuit Band Concert at the Cole Parkway Bandstand.  The music was so beautiful and festive; the played all the old favorites.  We walked out to the lighthouse and were stunned by Luminaria.  Quite a great start to a fabulous weekend.

This morning we are off to enjoy a traditional pancake breakfast at the St. Mary’s Parish Center and then to enjoy live music, artisan sales and amusement rides at Heritage Days.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend, we are!
